Hugh has been associated with Goodman & Company since 1985. During his career, Hugh has worked with a variety of small to medium size businesses including, but not limited to government contractors, technology companies, automobile dealerships, retailers, wholesalers, seafood processors, manufacturers, hospital cooperatives, municipal engagements and non-profit entities. The services provided to these clients include a variety of auditing, accounting, tax and consulting services. Hugh is also one of the firm’s primary sources for audits of corporate profit sharing and employee fringe benefit plans.

Hugh has been responsible for compliance testing and preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable guidelines for the various boards, authorities and commissions that he audits as required by the various relevant Office of Management and Budget Circulars.

Hugh is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs, and is a current member and former president of the Mercury 64 Kiwanis Club.

He is active in the business community and is a leadership institute graduate of the Virginia Peninsula's Chamber of Commerce and the former vice president of Business Network International. He has supported the non-profit community, by serving as a member of the American Cancer Society.

For the past two years, Hugh was designated as a 'Super CPA' in the field of Assurance Services by members of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and honored by Virginia Business magazine.

Gerard has over 20 years of public accounting experience, six of which were with an international firm. Gerard works with a wide diversity of clients including distributors, finish trades, automobile service centers, medical practices, investment partnerships, professional services firms, manufacturers, publishers, transportation organizations, real estate firms and healthcare organizations. Gerard’s real estate experience includes commercial development and management, multifamily and single family home development, real estate investments and public offerings of limited partnership interests.

Gerard is also one of the firm’s retirement plan audit partners. He currently works on fifteen plans such as defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, cash balance plans and master trusts.

In addition, Gerard has extensive experience with not-for-profit organizations. His experience includes foundations, schools, trade associations, political action committees and health and welfare organizations. Gerard has made educational presentations regarding not-for-profit accounting and has made presentations on critical issues effecting trade associations and not-for-profit organizations. Gerard has made numerous presentations to management, board of directors and trustees regarding financial information and operational issues. Gerard consults on a variety of corporate and individual tax issues such as business structures, unrelated business income, acquisitions, disposition and tax planning.

Ann-Marie has over five years of public accounting experience in both attest and tax services. Her primary focus since joining Goodman & Company in 2002 has been the real estate industry. Ann-Marie has experience working with multi-family and commercial properties, lenders, title companies and real estate brokers. She has spent a significant amount time auditing VHDA, HUD and tax credit properties. As a member of the firm's Real Estate Specialization team, Ann-Marie has been tasked with keeping the local office up to date on technical issues related to attest services for the real estate industry. She also has experience providing services for government contractors, publishing companies, auto dealerships and a wide-range of non-profit organizations, including those subject to OMB Circular A-133.

Ann-Marie is also a member of the Audit Task Force for the Tyson's office which is given the responsibility of addressing developments in the AICPA's auditing standards as well as providing in-house training on new financial reporting requirements.

During his time with Goodman, Mike has worked on various for-profit and non-profit audit and tax engagements. As a Supervisor, he currently specializes in the areas of corporate and individual taxation and frequently undertakes tax research projects. Additionally, Mike is used as an office resource to provide assistance to other Goodman professionals on complex tax assignments.

Mike is a member of the American Society of CPAs and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Oyster Point.
